Magazine Project: One World

Assignment:

"Oneworld doesn't have readers your age. Choose a topic that you think your peers would be interested in and would make them want to become a member of the platform. Present this using appealing visual language and your own text that fits the oneworld platform."

Targeted audience: 18 to 26.
Tasks for the Project:

- Selecting appropriate imagery for a chosen article
- Creating a layout for two spreads comprising of the imagery and the chosen article
- Developing a new wordmark design for OneWorld
- Designing a cover illustration for a magazine

Cover Illustration

The cover illustration is based on the article 'Growing Up in a World on Fire,' highlighting the impact of climate change on the youth. The image symbolizes the consequences of human actions on the environment, portraying a deceased animal adorned with plants on its antlers.

Feedback: Following feedback, the color transition of the antlers was enhanced, and the image was mirrored for better alignment with the cover illustration.

For the process, I photographed a small artificial deer in natural settings that would complement my drawing. After selecting the best photo, I began drawing on top of it until I achieved the desired result.

Layout

To begin the layout process, I selected the article "Growing Up in a World on Fire", from the list of articles provided. Next, I searched for imagery that would resonate with the content of the article and carefully chose the five best options.
I then sketched out several layout ideas, before refining the best version in Adobe InDesign. Lastly, I carefully selected fonts to complement the text.

Feedback was sought on the most suitable images, layout and font for the final version.

Logo

For my logo design process, I started with a set of brand values that I aimed to embody in my logo. I then created a variety of sketches that represented those values and brand identity.

After receiving feedback, I narrowed down the selection to three designs to improve. Once I had one design chosen, I experimented with different variations and finalized the best one. The chosen design was then refined and adapted to be placed on my cover.
